Srinagar, November 18 (KNO) : It has become a norm in Kashmir this year that whenever any violent incident happens, the Government orders closure of educational institutions to manage the situation. On Saturday, the Government ordered closure of educational institutions in Srinagar, apparently in the wake of a gun fight in Zakura area on Friday. Due to long winter vacations, strikes, official holidays and other reasons, the academic calendar in Kashmir Valley is very short. Right from April this year, the Government ordered closure of schools and colleges dozens of times to manage the situation which has badly affected the education of students. Closing down the educational institutions to manage the situation is unfortunate and the Government must do away with this practice. The students in Kashmir have been the worst sufferers of the prevailing situation and the Government punishes them further by forcing them to stay away from schools and colleges. Snapping Internet services time-and-again has become another routine in Kashmir in recent times. Due to this not only business community sufferers immensely, our students have to study without the Internet services in 21st century. As the board and university exams are ongoing, students are facing tribulations in internet surfing. It is like going back to Stone Age as students are deprived of every basic facility including internet services. The Government’s claim of making India digital is belittled due to routine Internet snapping. For how long this will continue? (KNO)
